Patients who need a blood test should either book an appointment at reception for the Hospital Phlebotomist or attend Basildon Hospital.
If you are asked to attend for a fasting blood test, you should not eat or drink anything after 10pm the previous night, other than plain water. You should not chew chewing gum (even sugar free) or eat mints, cough drops, cough linctuses or throat lozenges. You should continue to take any normal medication during this time. Please inform the reception if you require a fasting test when booking an appointment at the Practice.
